F1 News: Jerez Test D4 – Sauber F1 Team

Sauber LogoTest in Jerez – Day four

Jerez de la Frontera, 4th February 2015 – On the fourth and final day of testing in Jerez de la Frontera Marcus Ericsson was driving the Sauber C34. In the morning the track was still damp, therefore running was limited. Later the track dried out, and the conditions were very good. Marcus completed 112 laps, mainly concentrating on aero scans and race preparation. Towards the end of the session Marcus did a fuel run-out, and, as a result, had to stop out on the track. During the course of the four day test, the Sauber F1 Team was able to get 382 laps (1691 km) under its belt and collected a lot of valuable data for the next test in Barcelona.

Circuit: Jerez de la Frontera / 4.428 km
Driver: Marcus Ericsson
Weather: sunshine, damp in the morning, then drying out, air 5° – 16 °C, track 5° – 20 °C
Chassis / engine: Sauber C34-01 / Ferrari
Laps today: 112 laps, 496km
Fastest lap: 1:22.019 min

Giampaolo Dall’Ara, Head of Track Engineering:
“It was another productive day for the Sauber F1 Team. We concentrated on some academic measurements, which took quite a lot of patience from Marcus’ side, because he had to drive out and in, again and again. Overall the four day test was definitely very positive. There were hardly any reliability issues on the car, and definitely nothing major. The drivers and the team worked very well, and it was good to get to know each other. We will now analyse all the data in order to make further progress in Barcelona.”

Marcus Ericsson:
“It was another good day for us with more than 100 laps completed. It’s been a great first week of testing for the whole team, and I would like to thank everybody for the work done. We collected a lot of good information. It was interesting for me because I drove the car on days one and four, and it was obvious that we were able to make some progress in between. Felipe and the team did a good job, so when I jumped in the car again I was able to immediately notice the progress, which is encouraging. I think we have a good basis which we can now build on.”

What comes next:
The next pre-season test will begin on February 19 in Barcelona.
